Well, New Years came and went without much incident, except the a$$hole that tried to blow up a plane with a crotch bomb. Does this mean we’ll have to take our pants off along with our shoes now? I still to this day hate that jerk Richard Reid a.k.a. “The Shoebomber” every time I have to take my shoes off at security. I mean it’s disgusting! All those cheesy feet, some bare and infected with fungus and planters warts or God knows what else, walking across the common floor through the scanner. I get really skeeved out when I have to take that awful walk. My finger is healing pretty well. I guess the doctor was right-keep it dry. My boss has been pretty cool with me about keeping me working in my limited capacity. It may actually work out to my advantage because he is finally seeing I have some management skills. He owns another bar near College Park that is apparently huge. That would be a step up in employment. My brother is OK as far as I can tell from a phone call. He called me to wish me a happy new year at 3:00 am New Years morning. At first, I panicked thinking “what the heck is he doing partying at 3:00 am?’ but then I remembered the time zone difference. I have spoken with his counselors a few times, and apparently he is making good progress in addressing his drinking and drug triggers, as well as coming to terms with his abuse. Pretty heavy stuff to deal with, but it had to be done. He said this was his first sober New Year since he was 10. Yeesh.
